Buying Property In Surin Beach – A Guide
Surin is located on the west coast of Phuket and is a sought after area, so we wanted to present you with an overview and guide to buying property in Surin Beach. It is the first large beach you come across when you go north from Kamala. Other beaches are close but they are much smaller and not as easy to access.
Although the neighborhood is small, it is highly upscale. Surin has a variety of luxury resorts and villas with spectacular views of the coast, both north and south..
Although it has never been a major tourist attraction, its closeness to other popular destinations and stunning beach make it a popular choice for many visitors and locals.
What Makes Surin An Attractive Place To Invest In?
Surin is distinctive in that there are no large building projects or built-up areas, yet it nonetheless provides a diverse range of activities due to its location among the hillsides and tight roads.
Surin has established a long-standing reputation as either a luxury holiday destination or an excellent location to buy a multi-million dollar property, whereas neighboring Beach regions like Bang Tao and Layan have remained largely unknown for the previous 25 years.
Surin’s luxury hotels are world-famous, and they’ve drawn “A-List” celebrities from all over the world throughout the years, reinforcing the city’s high-end status.
The resale market is highly appealing because of the well-deserved praise for the quality and exclusivity of many of its developments. Surin’s reputation as a vacation resort makes renting out your investment home a breeze.
Condominiums & Villas For Sale in Surin
There are plenty of new developments popping up all the time, including a handful within walking distance of the beach. We may expect development to continue in the next years, as there is still enough of land suitable for new constructions.
The majority of the luxury villa projects are located on mountain slopes, with many offering amazing views along the picturesque Bang Tao coastline or right out over the Andaman Sea’s crystal clear seas.
There are always additional condo projects in the district, on ground adjacent to the Bang Tao Beach entrance — land where water buffalo often used graze.

Surin Beach Overview
Surin Beach is beautiful and has some of the best sand of any beach on the island. Despite the area’s reputation as a tourist attraction, the beach is seldom overcrowded, even during peak season.
The snorkeling is excellent at either end of the bay, where the rocky cliffs surround the bay, as it is at most of the island’s beaches.
Surin contains coconut palms in addition to the ever-present Casuarina trees that can be found all the way along the west coast, that not only give additional shading on the beach but also contribute to the natural beauty of the region.
Surin Beach is a fairly conventional beach during the high season (e.g. large stretch of sand, suitable for snorkeling and swimming ), but don’t be shocked to encounter the occasional surfer during the low season (May to October). Be mindful that as the waves rise, the less apparent undercurrent rises with them. Swimming is usually dangerous here in the off-season, so heed the warnings if you see the red flags.
Schools Around Surin
Within 10 minutes of Surin, there are two excellent international nursery/kindergarten options: Shining Star in Kamala and Kindergarten Rainbow in Cherng Talay. Indigo Kids, which is roughly a 20-minute drive from Cherng Talay, is also highly praised.
Surin has no international secondary schools within walking distance. The British International School Phuket (BISP) in the Kathu Valley and UWC (United World College) in Thalang are the nearest schools. These are both only about a half hour drive from the Surin area.
Night Life & Entertainment in Surin
Surin is part of Cherng Talay’s subdistrict (tambon), which puts it near other famous destinations including Cherng Talay Town, Laguna, and Bang Tao.
This means that the restaurant concentration within a 10-kilometer radius of Surin Beach is among the finest on the island. There are several great eating venues, including some of the Laguna hotels’ restaurants. There’s also local tourist favourites such as pizzas, burgers, Italian food and Indian food – if you can think of it, it’s probably available in the area.
There’s plenty of places available for a cold beer or refreshing beverage in the area and Surin has always had a reputation for the entertainment available in the beach area. While this has changed due to building regulations, there’s still plenty out there for those wanting to party in the sun!
Places To Shop in Surin
Surin Plaza, which contains a variety of up-market stores, is worth a visit if you’re looking for furniture, jewelry, or art. (Ladies, if you’re looking for fashionable evening dress, here is the place to go.)
Surin, on the other hand, does not have much to offer though in regards to day-to-day shopping. However, one of the advantages of Surin’s location is that all of the nearby amenities are less than 10 kilometers away.
Canal Village, part of the Laguna complex, contains local handicrafts, textiles, jewelry, and several cafés and restaurants with great atmospheres.
Boat Avenue also has some extra shops, including a Villa Market, which is one of the island’s better supermarkets for imported foreign food. But Villa is definitely upstaged by the Central Food Hall at the Porto de Phuket, the Central group’s newest retail mall.
Cherng Talay Market is a great traditional Thai market where you can stroll around and experience delicious Thai street food or stock up your pantry with fresh local produce for home cooking.
Attractions Around Surin
One of Phuket’s most popular tourist destinations is located only a few minutes south of Surin along the coast road. The Phuket FantaSea in Kamala is a family-friendly attraction. It’s a 140-acre theme park that mixes Thai history and culture with Las Vegas-style entertainment.
A 56-acre water park named Blue Tree is just a few minutes in the opposite way in Cherng Talay. Blue Tree has bars, restaurants, skate parks, cliff diving, water slides, zip lining, and one monster sized swimming pool!
